DOGS by CAT was originally created over a bottle of wine and some random nibbles on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Scotland.
After traveling and working extensively in various professions over the years in the US, South East Asia, Australia and Europe, and thoroughly fed up with the 9-to-5 routine of office life, the plunge was taken to "do something with dogs".
The original DOGS by CAT grooming studio opened its doors in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2005, and we are now, through a few hiccups, establishing ourselves south of the Mason Dixon Line in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas.
DOGS by CAT provides a wide range of services for all breeds of dog. (Incidentally, we don't do cats!)
The grooming studio is run by Catriona Bianconi ("CAT"), who trained in the UK under a registered City & Guilds qualified groomer. CAT has successfully gained the City & Guilds / NPTC Advanced Certificate qualifications to become a Professional Dog Groomer in addition to holding qualifications in the Handling & Care of Geriatric Dogs, Working Dog Obedience, Canine Aggression Behaviour Management, Puppy Training & Socialisation, the Preparation & Grooming of Animals, and the Health & Well-being of Animals. You can see her recent work on show poodles and a final examination Schnauzer cut in the gallery pages of this site.
OUR FOUR RIDGEBACKS...
Tsavo (sah-vo) is the original Ridgeback 'puppy' and has just reached the grand old age of 5 (pictured above at 18 months). As it currently stands he weighs in around 109 pounds, give or take. He's a big boy at first glance but gentle as a lamb. He has his grumpy moments, but then again, don't we all ?
Cedar, is three years old and the female in charge, she gave birth to her first litter on November 1st 2009... seven girls and two boys, and now, after offloading, she weighs in at a 90 pounds.. but don't let her small size and weight fool you - she's the wee minx and you shouldn't trust her an inch ! If there's food in your pocket, she knows... and she's also insanely fast, managing to give Greyhounds a good run for their money in the fields.
The third in line is Tatu (tah-too) who is just over two years old. He is the largest of the pack, standing an inch taller than his older brother Tsavo, and weighs in at 119 pounds of solid muscle...! He has to be the happiest dog with a tail that just doesn't stop wagging, and you can be guaranteed slobbery kisses if given half the chance.
You can see all of their pictures along with some of our clients in the Gallery pages.
